Nice boat. I'm green with envy...
I just stumbled accross this website. What kind of background can I get? How built the site? Why? Where are most of the members from etc. I didn't find anything like that in the menus.

Hey Jay, welcome to barefootski
Not sure what you need, but I'll try to help.
Quote: | What kind of background can I get? |
Background for?
Quote: | How built the site? |
Who? or How? if how, the site was built using PHP-Nuke
The site was built for the Barefooting community

If you look at the Members List you will see that some members have entered their locations. Others, have not. You can enter your location under your User Profile or User account settings.
Hope that helps.

I guess I was wondering if it was a group of footers who all knew each other and skied together.
Or one person that put it all together in the hope of attracting interested footers.
There is SO much stuff on this site. For such a small group of people so far. It seemed really elaborate for a start up deal. I got the feeling that someone designed a site for something else. Spent a lot of time on it. Then copied it, made a few changes, and popped out this one.
Yah, I noticed only a few people put in a location. I had already. But I guess this went back to the idea that maybe this website was the brainchild of a ski club/school/group/gang ...
I grew up on a lake and skiing (slalom) was my favorite sport. My older brother learned how to barefoot (circa 1970) and I tried a couple years later but just couldn't take the face plants long enough to get the hang of a step off. This was long before we had ever heard of a boom.
But I always wanted to learn how to barefoot. It was like the dream that I'd never achieved. So last summer (at the age of 48) I took a lesson, footed the first day, and was hooked.
I only get to try footing a few times a summer. So I haven't progressed a whole lot. Still hanging on the boom. But I can pretty much roll and get up everytime I try. Even behind my boat which is not very fast. Speedo says it will do 39 or 40. It lies. Wide open on my boat was more drag than 34 or 35 mph with the instructor. Oh well. At least it's fast enough to foot at all. (That's saying quiet a bit for a 20 foot, 1989 Four Winns Deck boat. The thing weighs a ton. But my six kids have a great time in it. It wil seat 13. So the 8 of us have enough room for the whole day to stay out of each other's "space".
anyway. I gotta run.

Thanks for the compliments.
I am the one who started and built the entire site. Just for fun? Yes
I enjoy giving to the community more than anything. I just do this because I can.
It's my way of saying thank you to everyone who has anything to do with Barefoot skiing!! and promoting the sport!
P.S. You are never to old to barefoot, or simply enjoy yourself. That's my philosophy! "at the YOUNG age of 48!"

Thanks and welcome to barefootski dot com Oz!
UGH! ...don't ask. It's Road Salt. Luckily the trailer is galvanized. It was pulled from Maryland to Indiana through some questionable weather. Had the shipping cover on the boat, so it stayed nice, just the trailer is all yaked up...

Yes!... I sold that boat to my best friend, he still has it and he keeps it looking like the day I bought it new!... I bought a new '97 RLX... loved that boat too!... sold the '97 to a friend of mine in the end of the '05 season and last year I bought a new Sanger Barefooter.
