Folks, the temp. insurance fees have changed if you are not a USA Water Ski member.

Per year, if you compete in any Grassroots sanctioned barefooting events, your one time yearly temporary insurance is 35 dollars. NO more 10 dollar per tournament fee.

So, if you attend all 4 of the Figure Barefoot Series events in 2011, your first and one time temp. insurance fee is 35.00.

If this is confusing, you can thank AWSA...j/k. If you don't understand, please reply back to this topic or send me an email to
areamike[at]barefootski[dot]com

Thanks and have a safe year!

it seems to be an effort to recover increasing insurance costs and or maybe try to rustle up some more memberships. if you're already an AWSA active member you will not have to purchase additional insurance 2 any sanctioned tournament ski foot board whatever, skiers that are NOT members will have to pay $35 for a temp membership (Insurance only, will not get waterskier mag etc) once per calendar year, so the people running the early tournaments will have to collect the additional fee for the insurance....... the good news is you only have to pay it once per calendar year so the next tournaments you go to (as long as you have your temp AWSA #) you will not have to purchase the insurance again.........

additional membership fee changes for 2011

From Chris McWatters:
There has been a change in the insurance policy for the barefoot season this year.

As you may remember the old policy was if you did not have a USA water ski membership you would have to pay a $10.00 additional cost to tournament fees for the insurance coverage. This year the additional cost is now $35.00, but do not be alarmed. This $35.00 cost is for ALL GRASSROOTS EVENTS. So that being said, if a footer pays for the Footapalooza event and the additional $35.00 for insurance coverage, that footer is paid for the rest of the year on all grassroots events. The $35.00 cost is a one year USA water ski membership as well.

Once you join you will receive a one year membership for the water skier magazine and a membership card and number. When you register at a grassroots event you will have to add your membership number on the registration form. All of the figure eight events that are involved in the WBC figure 8 series are grassroots events. Therefore one $35.00 fee and you are in for the year. This actually is a $10.00 savings from years past if you do all 4 events in the WBC figure 8 series.

Just wanted to clear up some confusing wording. When you read the information it appeared that you would have to pay $35.00 at each event. That would not be good for this sport, especially considering the price of gas. If you have any other questions or concerns please refer to the USA water ski website or comment here.
