what do you use and why?

Spectra - usually pretty dead no stretch maybe an inch or 2 @ 100'
but it sinks......... sometimes tangles when coiling or when uncoiling Sad

Poly-E - once it's finally stretched out it's pretty dead to maybe a few inches @ 100' , and @ least half the price of spectra

TAK - the "in between those 2 line" floats "low stretch" what does that mean? I have 2 - 100' lines that look great, coil great, don't tangle or sink like spectra, but still have about 12" of stretch in them (@ 100') maybe with more use TAC will stretch out too like poly-E (?) it can be found for about half the price as spectra.

note: my son has a TAK wakeboard line from BI @ 70' it has maybe an inch of stretch it feels as dead firm as my spectra lines Smile

what is the best way to set the line / break them in , just use them,
pull tubers with them, tie'em to a tree and pull with your truck?

Any other thoughts?

Dan T

I have a 100ft Spectra rope I have had for years. It has a "core" inside the rope and it never sinks or stretches. As for tangling, I use these to wind up my ropes all the time:

Get them at walmart for 6 bucks. I use them or all my ropes and NEVER have a tangle issue.

Also, I have two other ropes that are Spectra/Dynema with a plastic coating. They don't sink either and have zero stretch.
Here's a link to those ropes. I got them off Ebay a year or so ago. I have the 80ft version, while the listed ones are 75. Only 50 bucks!! Great ropes!

As for breaking in ropes, I simply use them.

I have been on a rope kick lately, I found some raw 16 strand 1/4" high density poly E
that once used a few times - half dozen 200lber front deeps and the rope has some but very little give, maybe 2 inches per 70' unless your doing surface tricks etc it is more than adequate. I can make them any length I need, put in a 18" loop @ the handle end and whatever @ the pylon end and have the comfort of knowing the material was produced here in the USA not imported from china Smile
