DeBelak Wins Big at Mud Run
TournamentsLaurelLakeSkier writes "

Well, after pelvic surgery last year and past neck injuries, nothing can stop the immortal Jon DeBelak.

The Sinissippi Mud Run opened Wisconsin’s 2011 Figure 8 season on May 21st and Jon DeBelak let everyone know that he is fully recovered from last year’s injury by winning both the open and the senior division in the tournament. The early season tournament had good water conditions and despite limited time on the water for most skiers, long runs were the norm for the day. The forecast called for rain and the end of the world and although skiers did get pelted with occasional showers, preliminary reports are that everyone survived to see Sunday morning.
Full 8’s were run on a fairly regular basis all day long in both the open and senior divisions. At one point Marc Donahue and Jon DeBelak ran 3 1/4 figure eights with DeBelak taking the win. Eventually DeBelak’s training partner, Mark Mahan, put Jon into the losers bracket of the open division but DeBelak worked his way through the bracket and beat Mahan twice in the finals to take the win.

WBC Figure 8 and Blairfoot Bananza Weekend
Tournaments

It may be a while away but the WBC Figure 8 and Blairfoot Bananza Reunion weekend is shaping up to be a must attend event. We just received news that the weekend will start off Saturday with the WBC Figure 8 Tourney at Lake Conine in Florida hosted by the worldbarefootcenter which is the final stop of the Figure 8 series. Following that event will be the Blairfoot Bananza Reunion featuring an Endurance Barefoot challenge on Lake Roy.

To accomodate the footers attending, Gordy Anderson has taken the time to lock in some rooms at a local hotel right on Lake Roy. Here's the information from Gordy:

"I have us locked in at the Lake Roy Beach Inn for the weekend of October
21-23.  If we get 8 rooms minimum for Fri/Sat, we will get a 20% discount.

When our barefooters make their reservations, tell them that the rooms are
listed under "The Blairfoot Reunion".  Normal check out is 1100am, noon if
necessary.  They will keep one room available for us all day Sunday for
restroom use for our group.

We are welcome to have our reunion tournament there Sunday and also have
our cookout on the beach.  They have a boat ramp and there is also a
launch available on the East side of Lake Roy.

The Beach Inn is certainly not a Hilton, but the location is awesome, with
a beach that will work out great for us.  The boats can pull right up on
the beach, and the water gets deep rapidly."

 WBC Figure 8 Barefoot Series
News Articles

Click on Me!!Finally, winter seems to be coming to an end, at least in the mid-west. For most of us it has been a long, cold and snowy winter. As the winter winds down we can start thinking about getting our boats out, dusting off our suits, and conditioning our feet, body and soul for the quick approaching season.
As many already know, the “Figure-8 barefoot series” from last year has been renamed and now is called the “WBC Figure-8 barefoot series”. The World Barefoot Center has graciously sponsored the series with $4,000 in cash to the top 3 footers in the series, and $1,000 in gift certificates to be used at the WBC pro-shop for the top 5 footers in the series. The series sites will remain the same; the dates are what have changed.

We will also have the Mississippi River Challenge on September 17th in Lake St. Louis, MO, The Stewart Bieber Memorial Barefoot Endurance Challenge on October 1st in Montgomery, AL, and then on November 6th we round the season out with the Dam to Dam in Austin, TX.  As the year progresses, there will phone numbers and email addresses for the site organizers available for questions and early registration.
