Keith set a new "pending" world record at the Barefoot World Championships this past Sept 9 - 17, 2007. Well, here we are and it is December 13th...and still no word on if he set a new world record or not?? What is going on?
Chuck Gleason of barefootcentral.com had a chance to talk to Keith about the apparent "hold-up" with the judging and as to why Keith has not been declared a new record holder or not...well, here is the interview from BFC that Chuck Gleason had with KSO..see for yourself.
I personally would like to know this. If they dock Keith a thousand points, then where does that put him with the other footers. Dave Small tricked real close to Keith..does Keith lose the title if the judges say his trick run did not count for 10850? Then if that is the case, do the judges need to look at every barefoot run thereafter and assess the "exact" points scored by checking video?? If so, then why bother having judges in the boat. The bottom line here is there needs to be a decision made by the overall "barefoot council", or whoever, that the judges in the boats are the definitive factor. No technicality BS as to the fact that he turned too fast or his pinky toe touched the water...that is petty nit-picking and the whole barefoot judging system needs a serious work-over!
